Student Presentation: “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay - A Conversation on Mental Health & Suicide Prevention”
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
As part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we believe it's important to provide students with tools to take
care of their mental health and support one another. Your student is invited to attend a school counseling
presentation titled, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay – A Conversation on Mental Health & Suicide Prevention.” This
presentation will take place on Wednesday, September 24th during 3rd hour in the auditorium. One of our high
school counselors, Victoria Bartolotta, will be presenting this information. Junior High students in grades 6 - 8 will
be in attendance.
This presentation is designed to be age-appropriate, informative, and supportive, with a focus on:
● Recognizing signs of emotional distress in themselves and others
● Knowing how and when to ask for help
● Learning what resources are available at school and beyond
● Reducing the stigma around mental health conversations
We understand that suicide and mental health are sensitive topics, and we want to assure you that this
presentation has been carefully prepared to promote hope, help-seeking, and compassion, while avoiding
graphic content or anything triggering.
If you would like for your student to opt-out of this presentation, please contact the junior high office at
(501) 745-6068 before Wednesday, September 24th.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to review the content beforehand, please feel free to contact
Brandy Alexander at (501) 745-6068 ext. 8270 or alexanderb@clintonsd.org.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your student’s well-being.
Sincerely,
Brandy Alexander
